Go Go Organics Cell Structure

Cells:

Cells are the basic structural and functional units of all organisms; simple life forms are made up of just one cell(unicellular) in contrast to complex multicellular beings. Humans have approximately 40 trillion cells; note that the contents within those cells can also vary.

Cell Membrane:

The cell membrane surrounds the outside of a cell in animals and humans. Thus, it separates and protects the contents inside the cell. Within the cytoplasm of the cell, a jelly-like fluid forms, helping to keep organelles in place. Similar to organs in the human body, each organelle stays in place. Comparable to the organs of the human body, each organ possesses a specific function to help the cell survive.

The Almighty Nucleuses:

The nucleus, an essential organelle, controls the entire cell, similar to a captain of a ship. Thus, the cells' chromosomes(genetic material) are arranged in such a way that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) are found and protected by the nuclear envelope, which surrounds them. In addition, the nucleus copies DNA and changes it to mRNA (messenger RNA), which is then moved from the nucleus to another organelle called the endoplasmic reticulum. Two types consist of this formula: Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum; it contains a protein called ribosome attached to it. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum has no attached ribosomes.

Big MIt:

Mitochondria create energy, thus allowing a cell to function. The different abundance of cells determines numbers, size, and shape. Respiration takes place in the cells, allowing mitochondria to use oxygen and perform oxidative phosphorylation to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is required to make energy.

Central C’, L’, V’s:

Centrosomes, which make cytoskeletons, in effect maintain the cell shape and keep organelles in balance. Next, helps transport materials from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. In such packages, molecules, including proteins and liquids, are made by the cell.

Lysosomes break down old organelles, viruses, and bacteria to keep the cell healthy, while Vacuoles keep waste products away from the rest of the cell.

Dr. Notes:

“A Human Cell”: There are prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotes consist only of a cell membrane, cytoplasm, flagella, and pili. Humans are composed of more complex eukaryotic cells.

Go Go Organic’s DNA:

Nucleus of a cells contains DNA(deoxribnucleic acid), proceeds to direct all the cells action; signals other molecules in te cell to translate information from te DNA so it can be duplicated. Also in the nucleus RNA; primally responsible for creati proteins. Note ever cell excpt ger, contai a compiler set of individual DNA.

Nucleus has fibers of chromatin which is made of DNA, and other proteins. For instance DNA is wrapped around a set of proteins called histones in these chromatin threads. Nucleosomes, the suunits of chromatin, are section of DNA, wrapped around proteins. Multiple nucleosomes along the entire DNA molecular appear as beads on a necklace.
